Real-life photo of the two Steely Dans themselves
Hey, y’all! Hope you’re doing your best this week. It’s Tuesday, so it’s time for yet another program schedule as we go over what we’re playing for tonight’s episodes of Talkie Time and The Jazz Program on datafruits.fm!
Or it would be…except that jazz is lame now and we’re not doing that anymore. We’re in the day of the expanding man now.
Jazz Is Over! We Present To You: The Steely Dan Club For Cool Kids
Yup. Jazz sucks now. Hasn’t been good since that one guy released that one album. You know the one. Those days are gone forever. Over a long time ago. Oh yeah.
And so, we’re drivin’ west on Sunset to the sea this week with our buddies Donald Fagan and Walter Becker as we explore what we’re totally going to be doing this week and every week till the end of time. Don’t check what day today is. Totally doesn’t matter.
pass on over that big black cow, i'mma hit that shit and get outta here boyeeeeeee
So kick off your high-heeled sneakers, cuz it’s party time.
I know the girls probably don’t seem to care what’s on, but I’m gonna tell you anyways. We’re playing 1977’s “Aja”, 1980’s “Gaucho”, Donald Fagan’s 1982 solo record “The Nightfly”, 1974’s “Pretzel Logic”, and 1972’s “Can’t Buy A Thrill”.
I’ll be on the air at 8 PM central standard as per usual, sharing the things I know and love with those of my kind. Truly, we’ve got libations and sensations that stagger the mind for you tonight.
Tune on in, to your favorite independent station, WJAZ—er, I mean, datafruits.fm. We’ve got jazz and conversation from the foot of Mt. Belzoni.
(And yes, your regular programming will resume next week. Happy April Fool’s day y’all.)
