#0001: Hit The Switch, We’re Back On The Air

I've been out of commission for...what, a year now? Here's the plan.

WHAT YEAR IS IT??????

It’s been a whole year since I updated this, ain’t it?

Shit.

Well, later rather than sooner, but the blog is back. At the moment, I’m mostly going to use this to host The Jazz Program/Talkie Time show schedules since (after another and completely separate long hiatus) I’m back on the air doing those as well, as well as some photo rolls for the photography work I’ve been doing.

I’d have some comments along the lines of “where I have been”, but the answer is honestly just flat out “not in a good place”, and at the moment I’d rather focus on what’s ahead than write about what’s behind.

The Plan

You may have noticed that the old posts are gone, as well; this is more or less intentional, and I took them down for two reasons. The first is that I’d rather go through them one-by-one and see what I’d like to keep up, and at this moment I don’t have as much time as I’d like to do that.

The second is because–at least for the first few months of The Jazz Program’s return–I’m going to be going back through old show programs, finding ones I liked, and re-playing those programs. Not recordings of those programs, mind; there are none, because I sure do hate my voice more than a radio show host should and I’d have to be the one who hears it when I edit and upload the recordings. Instead, we’ll just be re-visiting old shows’ programs and going back through the artists and radio plays we listened to at various points in time. Think of ’em as less “reruns” and more “revisits.”

On that note, I’ll no longer be uploading the schedules in month-at-a-time clumps. Instead, I’ll be posting once per week (ideally on Monday night) with tomorrow’s schedule. Same goes for the old “The Finer Things” posts as well. Those will also be a lot shorter, focusing on one album, one book, or one game I’ve enjoyed rather than eight-thousand-word compilations. Shortening these should make it a lot easier to put things out on a more regular basis so that I don’t get overwhelmed.

I didn’t want to start us back with nothing, however, and so I’ve gone back through, found some of the photo rolls that I didn’t hate, and tossed them up under the new name of “Old Photo Rolls”. You should be able to view those here.

What Now?

At the risk of inviting scrapers, I have no idea how long I’m going to keep Truckstop up this round. Hopefully it’ll survive a bit longer than the last time, but I make no promises.

I missed writing about tiny little things, I suppose. Given how bad things are already and how bad they’re about to get, I could use a positive outlet or two.

And besides, I have to put the show schedules up somewhere. Might as well be here.

Thank you for reading, friends; hopefully there’ll be quite a bit more uploaded on here for you all to read and look at in the months to come.

Stay safe out there, and I’ll see you soon.
